Ian became a partner at the age of 25 and is now Smailes Goldie's Managing Partner. He specialises in complex tax planning issues for all types of businesses and has developed a high level of expertise in corporate acquisitions, disposals and reconstructions, having acted for many years for one of the UK's most active corporate acquirers.
Along with Jeremy Allison, Ian has built a team of corporate finance specialists within the practice, who carry out due diligence and related transactional work. Ian is highly experienced in acting as lead adviser, frequently assisting with contractual negotiations, and is considered to be one of the leading specialists in dealing with tax deeds and warranties.
Ian's high level of expertise in all areas of tax, particularly in relation to corporate transactions, gives the firm a unique service to offer their wide ranging portfolio of clients.
