Accountants Take on Three Peaks Challenge for Charity
8th July, 2011
A group of accountants from Smailes Goldie Chartered Accountants will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge next weekend to raise as much money as possible for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Over 30 accountants and 6 support staff, from our offices in Hull and Barton-upon-Humber, have been training hard for the gruelling challenge, but they say it’s all worth it because they’re raising much needed funds in memory of two dear friends and colleagues who lost their lives to cancer.
The 24.5 miles walk, on Saturday 16th July, 2011, takes in over 5000 feet of climbing and incorporates Pen-y-ghent (2,276 ft), Whernside (2,415 ft) and Ingleborough (2,372 ft). It’s traditionally completed within 12 hours!
Partner Nicki Shipley said:
“The Yorkshire Cancer Research charity is a cause that’s very close to us all here. It was important to us that any money raised would be put to local use, because that’s where our colleagues received their treatment and care. We’ve been really impressed with the number of staff who wanted to get involved in this challenge as their way of remembering them.”
Anyone wanting to donate can do so by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/smailesgoldie. They can also donate by text! All they have to do is text the code AEXK90 followed by the amount they’d like to donate to 70070.
All proceeds go directly to Yorkshire Cancer Research.
