Hull-based Smailes Goldie Group is once again backing the next generation of entrepreneurial talent by awarding a prize to Ben Wilkinson, who captained Pocklington School’s team in the 2020 Young Enterprise Company Competition, winning the area final and reaching the North of England finals.
The team’s business, ‘GoodWoods Furniture’ was a sustainable wood garden furniture enterprise, devised following market research and which they pitched successfully in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ event.
Smailes Goldie Group has awarded a prize for business studies to a student at Pocklington School for many years, as it aims to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Mark Sharpley, a Partner at Smailes Goldie Group, said: “It is great to see what James and his team have achieved, despite the challenges of lockdown.
“They’ve shown themselves to possess some of the key characteristics of any successful entrepreneur – an understanding of the market, the needs of potential customers, determination and perseverance.
“Young entrepreneurs like Ben are a great reason to be optimistic about the future of our region’s economy.”
