Organisers and supporters of this year’s Lincolnshire Rural Charities Dinner are celebrating after the event raised more than £50,000 to support the region’s rural and farming communities.
Organised by Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and held at the Epic Centre at the Lincolnshire Showground, the event drew hundreds of glamorous guests dressed in tuxedos and gowns, including a team from our firm who were the main sponsors of the event.
Here at Smailes Goldie, we have always been keen supporters of rural businesses across the region and have strong links to Lincolnshire’s farming communities.
During the evening visitors enjoyed a dinner featuring a menu of local produce, designed and introduced by the Lincolnshire Chef, Steven Bennett, which was built around the event’s theme of “Past, Present and Future”.
Professor Simon Pearson, Director of LIAT and Professor of Agri-Food Technology at the University of Lincoln also spoke at the event about his career in agri-technology including his research into robotic systems, automation, energy control and management, and novel crop development.
Throughout the night Sean Sparling – a well-known magician, after dinner speaker and Lincolnshire agronomist kept the event entertaining
Nicki Shipley, Partner at Smailes Goldie Group, said: “We had a fantastic time at the Lincolnshire Rural Charities Dinner and we were really proud to be one of the headline sponsors at this event.
“Everyone was delighted to hear that more than £50,000 has been raised for rural charitable causes via the dinner and we are glad that our support has gone some way to achieving this goal.
“The Lincolnshire Rural Support Network does amazing work and plays an integral role in supporting farmers and rural business owners.”
The event was also sponsored by farm and rural business consultants and land agents, Brown & Co and Wilkin Chapman LLP, one of the largest law firms in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire, as well as The Private Office, LJ Fairburn and Sons and Limagrain.
