The Smailes Goldie Group have published a free guide to the latest accounting and reporting rules for academy schools and multi-academy trusts (MATs).

The guide comes, following the launch of the Academies Financial Handbook 2018 and the Academies Accounts Direction 2018.

Between them, the two documents bring into effect a range of changes to the accounting requirements for academies that all academies and MATs need to adhere to from this term.

Luke Taylor, a Partner in the Academies team at Smailes Goldie Group, said: “It can be challenging for academy schools and MATs to navigate the challenge of combining financial independence with accountability and responsibility for public funds.

“This challenge is compounded by regularly changing rules and regulations, which can have a major impact on the work of business managers.

“At Smailes Goldie Group we are experienced in advising academies and MATs of all sizes on meeting the latest requirements, as well as assisting with business functions such as payroll.

“I would urge academies to contact us today to ensure they are compliant with the latest requirements.”

The guide to the latest changes is available to download from www.smailesgoldie.co.uk/specialist-services/academies/.
