Peter has been with Smailes Goldie since graduating with a Maths degree from the University of Hull in 2002, although his relationship with the firm began earlier in 1998 when he completed a work experience placement. Following this placement, the Partners encouraged him to apply to the firm upon graduation.

Peter is a general practice Chartered Certified Accountant with extensive experience across a wide range of sectors, including agriculture and landed estates, engineering, logistics, technology, fishing and retail. He advises many farming families, landowners and agri-businesses on both day-to-day matters and longer-term strategic planning.

He has particular expertise in agricultural and rural issues, including farm partnerships and company structures, succession and inheritance tax planning, Business and Agricultural Property Relief, land and property transactions, and diversification projects.

Peter also has significant experience in international matters, advising overseas businesses establishing operations in the UK and UK-based businesses trading overseas.

His client base ranges from owner-managed businesses and family-owned farming enterprises to complex group structures.
