Numbers matter, but people matter more. At Smailes Goldie, we’re on the lookout for a Payroll Assistant Manager to join our friendly and experienced Payroll team. You’ll play a vital role in supporting operational excellence with regulatory standards whilst keeping client relationships front and centre. Key Responsibilities:
You will be working closely with the Payroll Manager and wider team to deliver accurate and efficient payroll services for our varied client base. Your role will include:
- Manage day-to-day operations to ensure team effectiveness and timely completion of all client payrolls.
- Deliver and process complex client payroll, dedicating approximately 50% of time to direct client delivery.
- Assist the Payroll Manager with client onboarding, ensuring smooth transition and set up.
- Identify opportunities to expand service offerings to existing clients.
- Support the operations team with queries, offering guidance and solutions as well as providing cover during holidays and sickness.
- Proactively manage workload, prioritising tasks effectively.
- Undertake continuous training and self-development through programmes, technical research and industry updates.
- Demonstrate professionalism in the office, client premises as well as in all communication.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects led by the Payroll Manager.
- Build and develop trust with clients, maintaining confidentiality fostering long-term professional relationships.
Qualification/Experience:
We are looking for applicants who are CIPP qualified or qualified by experience from working in a similar role. You’ll be confident applying payroll principles with accuracy and consistency.
