Billy joined Smailes Goldie in 2010 as a trainee, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2014 before spending two years with a Big Four firm. He returned to Smailes Goldie in 2016 and became a Partner in 2022.
Billy works with a wide range of owner-managed businesses and corporate groups, with a particular focus on audit and assurance services. He has significant experience leading audit engagements for larger and more complex organisations, while also advising clients and business owners on accountancy, taxation and wider business matters. Drawing on more than 15 years of experience in practice, Billy helps clients understand their financial position, navigate changing regulatory requirements and make informed decisions to support the long-term success of their businesses.
Known for his approachable and practical style, Billy enjoys building long-term relationships with clients and taking the time to understand their businesses, ambitions and challenges. Alongside his client work, he is committed to developing the next generation of professionals, supporting and mentoring members of the firm’s audit team as they progress through their careers.
Outside of work, when not spending time with his family and two young children, Billy is also a keen golfer and enjoys following a variety of sports including cricket, football and F1.
