Luke joined the firm in 2009 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2012.
In 2017 Luke became a partner and runs Smailes Goldie’s Charity and Education team and advises charities, academy trusts, not-for-profit organisations as well as owner-managed businesses across a wide range of sectors. He is known for his approachable style and practical advice, helping clients navigate complex financial, governance and regulatory challenges while keeping the focus firmly on achieving their wider goals.
Whether supporting trustees and governors, advising business owners or helping organisations plan for the future, Luke is passionate about turning complex issues into clear, actionable decisions. His focus is on building long-term relationships and providing advice that delivers real value beyond compliance.
Alongside his client work, Luke plays an active role in shaping the future of the firm, helping to drive innovation, service development and strategic growth. He is particularly passionate about developing people and has been heavily involved in trainee recruitment, mentoring and professional development throughout his career, helping the next generation of professionals build successful careers in accountancy.
Outside of work, Luke enjoys spending time with his family and following a wide range of sports, particularly football, tennis, and MotoGP.
