We’re part of the community, which is why we’re supporting our team to make a difference locally through our 22 in 22 initiative to raise £22,000 for good causes this year.

What’s more, we are on course to achieve our target by the end of the year, having raised nearly £12,000 at the time of going to press.

So far this year, we have supported our team in taking part in 17 different fundraising initiatives, ranging from monthly sponsored dress-down days to Red Nose Day activities, various sponsored runs, our annual quiz night and even a skydive.

Here are some of the highlights so far:

  • Tax advisers Dan Adamson and Dave Alden plunged from a plane towards the ground to raise more than £1,000 for Dove House Hospice in July.
  • Josh Elliot from Smailes Goldie was part of a team of 10 taking part in the David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge, raising more than £500 for Hull & East Yorkshire Mind.
  • Five members of our team took part in the Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k Run, raising nearly £400.
  • We entered a team in the Pretty Muddy Challenge, raising more than £1,600.
  • We raised more than £600 for Comic Relief with our firm-wide Red Nose Day activities.

And we have more to come, with a series of exciting activities already planned for the remainder of 2022, including Trainee, Kane Fitzgerald, taking part in the Great North Run to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, our charity golf day at Burstwick Golf Club raising funds for Jacobs Well and also the Smailes Goldie Charity Walk in October.

The walk will see seven teams traverse a stretch of the 79 miles of the Yorkshire Wolds Way which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2022! Each team will raise money for their chosen charities which include, PAUL for Brain, Mires Beck Nursery, British Heart Foundation and Scarborough Hospital.
