Smailes Goldie, a leading accounting firm based in East and North Yorkshire, has been named the highest-ranking accountancy firm in the UK’s Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers 2026.
The annual list recognises small and medium-sized businesses across England offering outstanding apprenticeship opportunities.
It is widely used by prospective apprentices and career advisers looking for organisations that invest seriously in developing young talent.
Smailes Goldie has held a place in the rankings for four consecutive years. This is a run that reflects the consistency and effectiveness of its apprenticeship programme.
Across the accountancy sector, no other firm in the country has matched its position in this year’s results, which the firm is proud to announce.
Luke Taylor, Training Partner at Smailes Goldie, said the result reflected the whole firm’s approach to training and its investment in the next generation of accountants and tax advisers.
He said: “Being recognised as the top accountancy firm in the country for apprenticeships is something the whole team should be incredibly proud of.
“It shows that our approach to training genuinely works and that we’re giving people a real and rewarding path into a long-term career in accountancy.”
The firm has built a strong track record of developing accountants from apprentice level through to management and the firm’s Partners.
Smailes Goldie’s apprenticeship programme covers technical training alongside the wider personal skills apprentices need to succeed in accountancy, supporting them from their first day through to qualification and beyond.
“Our apprentices are the future of this firm and this profession and we will keep investing in the culture, learning and support that makes that possible,” added Luke.
