We are stepping up to take part in the We Walk for Yorkshire challenge again this May.

We Walk for Yorkshire is a walking challenge that brings people together to stay active and support Cancer Research.

More than 30 team members across all six of our Yorkshire offices will collectively walk at least 3,000 miles in May, aiming to hit our £3,000 donation target, £1 for every mile we cover, to help fund lifesaving work in the region.

Rachel Underwood, Business Development Manager at Smailes Goldie, said: “We Walk for Yorkshire runs throughout May, which is also National Walking Month.

“With Mental Health Awareness Week falling in the same month, we’ll be encouraging everyone to step away from their desks, get some fresh Yorkshire air and join a team walk to reconnect with colleagues and recharge.”

We Walk for Yorkshire participants are encouraged to take on the challenge in a way that works for them.

They choose how far they walk, whether they go solo or form a team, where they walk and the donation goal they set.

Nicki Shipley, Partner at Smailes Goldie, added: “I’m taking part in the challenge myself this year and I’m really looking forward to getting started.

“With around 35,000 people in Yorkshire being diagnosed with cancer each year, every bit of support we can offer to help prevent, detect and treat the disease really does make a difference and is worth the effort.

“I’d love to see as many people as possible get involved this year, whether that’s by donating or lacing up their walking shoes and joining us. Every step we take brings us a little closer to helping make Yorkshire cancer‑free.”
