Smailes Goldie is celebrating another year of success with its continued efforts to support charities in the local community across Hull, East and North Yorkshire.
As in previous years, 2023 has seen staff at the firm take on various challenges and organise fundraising events in aid of their chosen charities. As ever, each staff member has the full support of Smailes Goldie, a firm that has always taken pride in making a valuable contribution to communities across Hull and East Yorkshire, and now North Yorkshire.
One of the highlights of the year was The Big Fat Charity Quiz for the SMILE Foundation, which successfully raised £5,000. This event not only generated significant funds but also brought together the business community.
Other events in 2023 included ‘Bring a Pound to Work Day’ and the Charity Weight Loss Challenge, which both supported Saint Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough, a local charity providing care for those with terminal illnesses.
Assistant Manager at Smailes Goldie, Suzi Guy, went above and beyond for the fundraising cause, bravely shaving her hair for Cancer Research UK, while the firm’s Charity Golf Day raised £3,800 for the Dove House Hospice in Hull.
Beyond fundraising, Smailes Goldie has also been actively involved in supporting regional foodbanks and organised fundraising for Her Breast Friends on Never Give Up Day, further demonstrating their diverse approach to community support.
Smailes Goldie has also placed a substantial emphasis on supporting the wellbeing of its employees. Initiatives like monthly team wellness walks, a tea and talk event for Mental Health Awareness Day, support from our Menopause and Mental Health Champions, an Employee Appreciation Day, and the Spotlight Award, which recognises team members who go above and beyond in their roles, are integral parts of the firm’s internal community.
Ian Lamb, Managing Partner of Smailes Goldie said: “This year has seen another great effort by the team in supporting the community and making a difference. It is incredible to see members of the team taking on challenges to raise funds for charities that they have chosen, many of which have a special place in their hearts.”
Smailes Goldie’s achievements in 2023 highlight the firm’s dedication to not only its clients and the community that surrounds it, but also to the wellbeing and mental health of its employees, proving that success in business goes hand in hand with making a positive impact in society.
